If you want to understand this article in 10 words, it’s:

If someone calls you about Medicare plans, they’re a scammer.

Medicare annual open enrollment period

The holiday season will soon be upon us. While people storm Walmart on Black Thursday, the robocall scammer call centers in Bangalore will also be storming around Medicare scams. Medicare is a veritable goldmine for fraudsters, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable.

Medicare’s annual open enrollment period is October 15 — December 7, 2022. During this time, people can change their Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage for the following year to better meet their needs.

During these 7 weeks, tens of millions of scam robocalls will be going out to lure those on Medicare. Even if they manage to scam but .05% of the callers, their plunder can easily be more than a billion dollars. Considering that the average salary in India is 556,000 INR (Indian Rupee) or about $7,000 US dollars, the amount of money to be made is staggering. That is why there are so many scam robocalls from that region.
